Pescadero Town Planning Workshops

The Pescadero Town Planning Workshops were led by Fisher & Hall Urban Design in July of 2004 in both English and Spanish with Laura Hall as Community Facilitator. Pescadero is a small coastal town in a rich agricultural region south of San Francisco. The severe shortage of affordable housing for low-income residents, especially for agricultural workers, negatively impacts the local economy and was the impetus for this series of workshops. All materials, including newsletters, image boards and notices, were published in English and Spanish, and a Spanish translator was available at all public meetings. Affordable housing sites were identified as part of this project and the community has been able to acquire grants for sewer and fireflow studies in large part as a result of the community consensus that was reached during this process.
